Major Disappointment

Ever felt like you were a disappointment? Ever felt like you’ve lost the trust that people placed in you? Well then, here’s a story.
The kid’s name is Ben. People loved him. His family adored him. He was pretty much the prize child. So one day, his brothers take him on a road trip; a pretty significant road trip. They get to their destination, get all their shopping done and head home. On the way back, officers stopped them because of circulating reports that a certain object of great value had been stolen. If they were found guilty, the punishment was death. Now, obviously the brothers were stunned and vehemently denied these accusations and agreed to a search to prove their innocence. Guess where they found the prized valuable? In baby brother Ben’s backpack…
Now here’s the scenario: this prize child who was the adoration of his peers, in an instant became the biggest disappointment to everyone involved in that situation. This is a true story found in the book of Genesis 44. In a matter of minutes, perfect child Benjamin becomes a criminal. Can you imagine the donkey ride back to Egypt? The thoughts running through the minds of the brothers? They probably began to mentally accuse Benjamin of everything that went missing back home.
But here’s the irony. Joseph essentially placed the “false evidence” as a blessing; not as a curse. The target of all their disappointment carried the key to their freedom. Sometimes people who tend to “disappoint” hold the key to a family’s blessing- the key to turning a situation of sorrow into a situation of praise. The story has a happy ending.
If you have EVER felt like a disappointment or people lose trust in you, NEVER lose grip of the fact that God has a divine purpose behind your life. He intends to turn your disappointment into a fulfilled promise. One day it may be that same “disappointment” that shepherds a church, leads the family, steers a multi-million dollar organization, presides over a nation, creates change and stirs up a revolution. This is for all those who feel like they are a disappointment and have let people down: YOU ARE NOT and YOU HAVE NOT. God used “disappointments” like David, Rahab, and twelve fishermen and tax-collectors to defeat Goliath and rule Israel, overcome Jericho and revolutionize the world.
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and an (incredibly amazing) future
Fight through disappointment. After all, your best success comes after your greatest disappointment.
