“It is not good that man should live alone”- God

Sir Winston Churchill once said, “There is no doubt that it is around the family and the home that all the greatest virtues, the most dominating virtues of human society, are created, strengthened and maintained”.
There cannot be any more truth to that statement than there already is. God introduced the institution of family in the Garden of Eden. Genesis 2:18- “it is not good that the man should be alone”. He created us in His image and if His nature is Trinitarian (triune God), it is innately impossible for us to effectively exist alone. A family plays a vital role in defining your virtues, morals and ideals, and is equally essential in shaping your character.
Quite often, people try to nurture ministry and career and in the process, neglect the core component of FAMILY. Effective ministry or leadership begins at the core: family. A pastor in Las Vegas once mentioned a story of how he turned down Los Angeles Lakers (boo) playoff tickets (really good seats) for his daughter’s ballet recital. When asked how on earth he could possible do that, his response was this, “Kobe Bryant will never remember me at his game, but my daughter will always remember me at her recital”
Family however does not always have to be defined by a father, mother and siblings. It can (and must) also mean “community” or “together-ness” (yeah, probably not a word). It is extremely essential to surround yourself with people (family) that stand to see you succeed; people who will correct you, discipline you, love you and push you to do better /be better.
Don’t make the mistake of trying to live life on your own. Adopt a family and share in a community.
